Maya Sheppard
Therapist
I bring openness, curiosity, and humility to my work as a therapist. I believe in the power of therapy to be both healing and generative. My approach is flexible and integrative, and I seek to collaborate with you to create a therapeutic space in which you can explore your full self.
In addition to the Oaklight approach, I also have training in person-centered therapy, somatic experiencing, neurodivergence-affirming therapy, narrative therapy, nature-informed therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and trauma-informed cognitive behavior therapy.
I am queer, and find great joy in supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community with my work.

I am currently under the supervision of Devin Maroney, LCSW-C, and am working towards licensure as a LMSW-C in Maryland and the District of Columbia. I have a BA in Africana Studies from Vassar College, a JD from University of Washington School of Law, and an MSW from University of Maryland Baltimore School of Social Work
I first came to know Maya through a training in somatic, parts-based therapy. She has an intuitive sense of this approach to therapy and is a skilled clinician. Most importantly, however, Maya is kind, thoughtful, and easy to connect with. I am delighted that she is able to offer her gifts to the community.
