Maya Sheppard
Therapist
I bring openness, curiosity, and humility to my work as a therapist. I believe therapy can be both healing and generative, as a place to work through what hurts, and to discover what's possible.
My core training is in the Oaklight approach of somatic, mindfulness-based therapy. I draw additionally on person-centered, narrative, nature-informed, and neurodivergence-affirming approaches, as well as ACT and trauma-informed CBT.
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker practicing under the supervision of Devin Maroney, LCSW-C, and am working toward independent licensure. I have a BA in Africana Studies from Vassar College, a JD from the University of Washington School of Law, and an MSW from the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Social Work.
Specialties include:
Therapy for Teens
Neurodivergent-affirming Therapy

I first came to know Maya through a training in somatic, parts-based therapy. She has an intuitive sense of this approach to therapy and is a skilled clinician. Most importantly, however, Maya is kind, thoughtful, and easy to connect with. I am delighted that she is able to offer her gifts to the community.
